After a sweet as couple of days on the coast we were ready for something new and something EPIC!!!
We decided to go check out something on the top of the Arahura but unfortunately it was to low.
With each of us already prepared for a big day with $30 worth of food, we decided to head up the whitcombe as we heard the two day held some of the hardest white water on the coast.
It has a 25min heli ride so by the time reach the put in you are well high on Aviation gas fumes.
The run started off good with some sweet moves and nothing to full on but by the heli flight we could see that there was some big rapids to Huck later on.
Our team consisted of Brad, Mike, Dylan, Brendan Bayly and myself Sam. This team is sweet to paddle with as every body is on the same level it means that you don’t have to baby sit any one, and every body is confident enough to run the shit blind.
Once we reached the hard core section it went on and on and on just continuously getting steeper with some of the sickest rapids I have paddled on the coast.
The Coast hold some of the hardest technical white water in the world, it is not as visually spectacular in terms of vertical height per rapid as some places but as a kayaker it is some of the scariest.
After 7 hours we had made it out off the river after a huge day of running the shit and running as much that is humanly possible blind.
Enjoy the photos.
