After Scouting Aratiatia the boys were ready to dominate. Waiting around for 1 ½ hours to here that siren was a nerves felling, but this was the rapid I saw as King since I started paddling.
We played our games to decide the order Josh would be first followed by myself and then Dylan.
As the pools fluctuated rapidly D Day had arrived and it was time to fire it up.
Josh Dropped in, able to follow his progress by the movement of the Camera it looked good to go So I dropped in and man are there some sweet moves in there it is by far one of the most fun rapids you can run.
Coming up to the Weir I could see my line and feel my Boof, yeeha just like trout pools.
Skimming out with out a stroke I was happy.
Next Dylan Dropped in and with that slalom background he slayer it.
Next rapid was the Middle Drop this is my favourite rapid as you just bomb the centre and tuck up as tight as you can, as you get Violated under water you slowly rise to the top to gather your breath.
Unfortunately the footage of the run was not up to scratch so we were fortunate enough to go back in for seconds this time just rolling on straight down. Awesome
A few Days later we Drove down to meet up with Mike Dawson at Tree Trunk Gorge, a set of three rapids in a gorge imposable to Portage or set Safety.
The gorge is one of the sickest places I have ever been. In the gorge it feels amazingly special, as you are one of few to ever feel the commitment and the adrenalin of Tree Trunk.
It would have to be one of my favourite rapids I have ever paddled and is just a really fun set of rapids with nice consequences, which is the best.
