California

What can you expect to see when the Governor of the state is a Giant and is the ultimate terminator

Where the State has Hollywood

Where the State is the same size as New Zealand with 5 times the population

Where the State that has an average 10 lane highway in every direction.

And where fast food chains line all roads.

California is the destination I had dreamt about going to since I first started Kayaking, with big clean rapids and some of the wildest scenery

It was a feeling surreal when I touched down to this land of Massiveness.

We were picked up by Josh and Brendan in the Van from Sacramento and wicked up in to the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. It took one day to sort out all the required hassles in life like insurance, and vehicles but food was no worries, it was time to start exploring this fatty American culture.

As a group of five, which consisted of Josh Neilson, Brendan Bayley, Sean Gerlack, Tim Coppelstone and myself we still didn’t no much about the area and when rivers are run able. Luckily for us we met up with a guy called Evan Garcia World Junior Champion and he new it all, he has a huge list of numbers which tell him everything we need to no. It was going to be the best three weeks of our lives, we loaded up his Subaru and headed off to conquer California’s hardest rivers check it out.
